An Economic Boon

An estimated 15-million visitations would be made annually to North Port Quay generating around $700 million from tourism and retail. This excludes revenue from the operations of the Port of Fremantle.

Some 2,500 people would be employed in construction, retail and tourism over the estimated 10-year life of the project.

Revenue from the lease of the reclaimed seabed plus stamp duty and land tax would be in excess of $100-million.

The City of Fremantle could receive an estimated $12-million in rates from homes and retail outlets in the development.

Yes, full economic analysis is very important.

what is the valution of the seabed required and how much will be paid to the State government for it?

is there a report available with the finance and economics set out?

I wish you every success in achieving your goal with this incredible project that will help further place Western Australia on the world map.

Your magnificent concept is absolutely mind-blowing – mind-blowing in the context that such a wonderful scheme is proposed for our Perth metropolitan region. Placement out from the underutilised virtually derelict part of Rous Head is the most forward thinking concept for this area since CY O’Conner created Fremantle Harbour. I am sure CYO would approve!

I am confident that in the intervening period traffic issues for adjacent areas will be sorted out and in ten years time attitudes will be significantly changed. For example we will all benefit from significant improvements to mass public transport.

I just cannot understand the closed mind attitude of our Premier and the Fremantle local member. Here we have two people who are quite content to bask in the benefits of yesteryear’s far-sighted individuals who have given them what they enjoy today. Yet they purport not wanting to enter the future themselves! God forbid that their insular bloody mindedness was not around when today’s taken-for-granted progress occurred with such advances as automobiles, air travel, penicillin, modern anaesthetics, credit cards, solar power, commodities exports, great wealth for our state to the point we are leaders in financial contribution per capita to the National piggy bank, et al.

Thankfully Troy Buswell has indicated the current Opposition is at least prepared to “look at the proposal”.

Time for a change of State Government methinks.

Go for it! And may you succeed.

We (policians included) need to be more open minded in regard to initiative. Open slather in regard to developments is not the answer but this project is economicially, environmentally and socially sound.

Heres a thought: the Eiffel Tower was a temporary and VERY contraversial construction in its day and now receives millions of visitors a year and is an international icon on the Paris skyline. Its about time we made some positive changes to the face of Perth.
